Victoria's background in fetal scans and medicine

Victoria did her undergraduate training at Cambridge University and her clinical training at Oxford, graduating as a doctor in 1993. She stayed in Oxford, specialising in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, before moving to London in 1996. There she worked at University College Hospital and Queen Charlotte's Hospital.

In 1997, offered the post as Clinical Research Fellow in Fetal Medicine at the Harris Birthright Unit at King's College Hospital, working under Professor Kypros Nicolaides. Her research was based on identifying women who were at risk of severe preterm delivery by the measurement of their cervical length. Based on this work she wrote several important papers on its use as a predictor of preterm delivery. During this time, she was also involved in the First Trimester Screening programme and went on to become the First Trimester Screening Co-ordinator for the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF). Again she has written many papers on this subject.

Victoria continued in this role, offering training, support and auditing to those who perform nuchal translucency scans, until 2005. By this time she had three children of her own and wanted to spend more time with her family, as well as overseeing a major renovation project to restore an old watermill (now Beard Mill Clinic). In November 2006, she returned to King's College Hospital to conduct more clinical work and was awarded the Diploma in Advanced Obstetric Ultrasound by the Standing Joint Committee of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Royal College of Radiologists in May 2007.

In September 2007, supported by Professor Nicolaides and the Fetal Medicine Foundation, she opened her own private Oxford ultrasound clinic, Beard Mill Clinic. As a mother of three, Victoria is also very aware of the excitement and anxieties that pregnancy can bring. You can trust her expertise and use her knowledge to enhance your own pregnancy.

She continues to have very close links with the Fetal Medcine Foundation and also maintains an Honorary Contract at King's College Hospital, ensuring she remains abreast of all the latest developments in fetal medicine.
