About Beard Mill Clinic
Beard Mill Clinic was set up in 2007 by Dr Victoria Heath to offer ultrasound pregnancy scans and advice in pregnancy.
About Dr Victoria Heath
Victoria qualified as a doctor from Oxford University in 1993. She trained in Obstetrics before specialising in Fetal Medicine in 1997, when she was awarded a Research Fellowship by the Fetal Medicine Foundation to work at King’s College Hospital. From 1999 to 2005 she was a member of the team led by Professor Kypros Nicolaides that pioneered first trimester screening for Down’s Syndrome. She helped to develop the training, certification and audit processes and the risk calculation software that are now widely used by many centres offering the nuchal scan. She also worked with the National Screening Committee to help to train NHS units as first trimester screening was gradually introduced into routine antenatal care. Victoria has three children herself which gives her a real understanding of the excitement and anxieties that come with being pregnant. She has used her professional and personal experiences to establish an exceptional standard of pregnancy scanning, using the most advanced techniques, and offering practical pregnancy advice in a professional and sensitive manner.
She continues to have very close links with the Fetal Medicine Foundation and also maintains an Honorary Contract at King's College Hospital, attending regular sessions at the Harris Birthright Research Centre, ensuring she remains abreast of all the latest developments in fetal medicine.
Such is her commitment to research and developments in fetal medicine, Dr Heath donates 10% of the profits made by Beard Mill Clinic to the Fetal Medicine Foundation to support further research.
About the Clinic
Beard Mill Clinic is run from a restored watermill on the River Windrush, between Oxford and Witney, in the Oxfordshire countryside. It has been designed to create a discrete and relaxing environment to make your visit a thoroughly pleasant experience. It is easily accessible by road and importantly has convenient free parking.
Who will do your scan?
Dr Heath performs all of the scans and counselling herself.
Most of the time the scan findings will be reassuring and no follow-up is required. But occasionally something may be seen on the scan that may require further tests to be done or a follow-up scan. In this situation, Dr Heath is able to refer you to your local NHS hospital and liaise with the health care professionals looking after you to make sure you get the best possible care.
