3D
Pregnancy Scans
Traditional ultrasound scanningcreates two-dimensional images of your baby. This is sufficient to check the health and wellbeing of your baby, however it is sometimes nice to see something a bit more real.
The 3D baby scan often creates still 3 dimensional pictures and can provide
you with a fascinating glimpse of your childs features before he
or she arrives in the world. As with all our baby scans we
can supply electronic files of the still images on a memory stick
to take home and view on your own computer.

| 4D Pregnancy Scans
4D baby scans
are also available at the Beard Mill Clinic. The fourth dimension,
relates to time. A 4D pregnancy scan will show
your baby in a similar way as a 3D baby scan, however with this
scan you will be able to see the baby moving in real time.
For many parents this added dimension makes the images particularly
charming as they watch, for the first time, their child play. A
short clip can be supplied as an electronic file to take home on
a memory stick and watch on your own computer.
With both 3D and 4D pregnancy
scans, the imaging is very dependent on the position and gestation
of the baby to produce good images and it is not used as part of
a routine scan. However, parents are very welcome to ask for a 3D
or 4D scan (at no extra cost), during an anomaly or wellbeing scan
and images will be created whenever possible.
However, if you specifically want to have 3D and 4D images the best time to scan for this is around 26 weeks. This is far enough into the pregnancy for the baby to have developed his or her facial features, but not so far that he or she is too curled up to see the face clearly. Even at this gestation, we are not able to guarantee perfect images but will always do our best.
